The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women

Secret 5: Commiting to Self-Focus
The way for me to silence those voices in my head telling me I have more important things to do than collage or sew, is to have a plan and stick to it. Routines and rituals feel good to me. I feel at ease when I know that I am taking care of myself and my family, when I can open my door and not be ashamed of my apartment or my appearance and when I have enough time to create and to be with family and friends. When I don´t plan my days and just let them happen, time runs away from me and I feel like I´ve done nothing.
During Soul Coaching I made my Zen Teacup - I know what´s important to me and I don´t let much else in. It´s MY cup, it´s MY life! I´d love to see what´s in your cup.

I also feel at ease when my home and loved ones are taken care of -- much more able to create -- not being ashamed of my home --- a plan -for some reason these things you mentioned connected with the tea in my cup :)

Love the cup of tea. I have started attempted a "to do list" and an "Amy hour" everyday and that seems to work ok so far so I can have some creative focused time. Thanks for sharing!

Mine's full of cocoa!

Seriously - I love the idea. You have quite a lot in your cup so it doesn't look like its overly limiting. Seems like an excellent exercise to do. Thanks for the suggestion.

I really love the concept of the zen teacup! I attempt to make time for myself but I am not really good at following through with it. Too busy taking care of everyone else but I know that I must take care of me now. It is my time! Thanks for the inspiration!

I still remember your teacup from the last book blogging circle - and it strikes me even more deeply in reference to this chapter. I think I will make one - if only in my head. What do I want to fill up on, and if I take in something I'm not being mindful about, there won't be room for what I may want. Very wise. Thnx

Cool collage work for the theme. Really like your take on the subject.

Have only just received my copy of the book and need to read fast to catch up with everyone but really appreciate what everyone has blogged on their thoughts.

Thanks for sharing.

Your teacup is wonderful. Makes me realize that I need one too - like you I need to contain the important things, and if there is time for something extra, great, if not, so be it.

Thank you so much for your comment on my blog! We still haven't had any more snow! What's there is almost gone.

Wonderful zen teacup collage!

I like what you said about having a plan and sticking to it-- when I think about it, its the days when I don't have a plan that I tend to fritter away my time. Great observation, thanks!

I like how you said this. you are right. without a plan, it's easy for someone else to put their wants in front of ours. after all - we don't have anything planned right. excellent thoughts.
